W. Coast tube producers raise prices

LOS ANGELES West Coast producers of structural steel tubing raised prices $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) in a move market sources believe will see some initial success, but may face long-term challenges.
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Searing Industries Inc. raised prices for all structural shapes and pipe products and mechanical and ornamental tubing by $40 per ton effective with new orders received after 5 p.m. PST April 18, it said in a letter to customers. The steel producer said all orders currently on its books will be price protected through May 9, or as....
