Teck posts lower profits, plans job reductions

NEW YORK Teck Resources Ltd. said it will reduce its global work force by 5 percent, or 600 jobs, after posting lower sales and earnings in the first quarter.
The action will be an "intensification" of cuts that have resulted in Canadian $345 million ($313 million) of annualized reductions to date, executive vice president and chief operating officer Ian Kilgour said during the companys earnings conference call April 22. ....
