AK Steel setting record stainless shipments

NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. is "setting records" with shipments of 400-grade ferritic stainless steels due in part to a strengthening market, according to chairman, president and chief executive officer James L. Wainscott.

Stainless shipments have benefited from improved demand within the automotive and appliance sectors, as well as from industrial and construction markets, Wainscott said during an earnings conference call April 22.
