SSAB Americas boosts plate on strong orders

CHICAGO — SSAB Americas has increased plate prices in the United States and Canada, according to letters to customers obtained by AMM.

The Lisle, Ill.-based steelmaker, a subsidiary of Stockholm-based SSAB AB, said it was boosting prices by a minimum of $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) for U.S. customers and C$45 per ton (C$2.25 per cwt) for Canadian customers.

The price hike was "effective immediately" for all new orders as well as existing orders scheduled to ship starting the week of June 16, according to the April 23 letters signed by SSAB Americas vice president and commercial general sales manager Daniel L. Miksta.....
