W. Coast flat-rolled prices firm amid optimism

LOS ANGELES Flat-rolled steel prices are staying firm on the West Coast amid what appears to be the most positive overall market sentiment since the regions steel market entered its slump in mid-2008.
"I think its finally sunk in with some of our customers that prices are going up and sticking," one service center buyer said.
While some observers pointed out that any recovery in price and demand is probably lagging improvement in other parts of the countryand demand has a way to go before it reaches 2008 levelsan informal survey of the region nevertheless indicates an overall optimistic mood.....
