Copper consumer demand strengthens in 2014

NEW YORK — Lead times for copper products have lengthened this year, with consumer demand showing strength across several end markets.

Lead times have extended to between eight and 10 weeks, Scott F. Immell, president of Scioto Metals Inc., Lewis Center, Ohio, told AMM in an interview.

"Construction and munitions have been stable, but the automobile sector has tailed off a bit," said Immell, the immediate past president of the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association (CBSA).
