Scrap price fall hasn’t halted beam hike talk

LOS ANGELES — This week’s reduction in a key scrap price not only has failed to trigger discussion about a possible cut in wide-flange beam tags, it hasn’t dampened speculation that prices could actually go up.

AMM’s benchmark consumer buying price for shredded automotive scrap in the Chicago market has fallen by $15 per ton to $383, but hardly anyone thinks the decline will trigger a beam price cut.....
