Weak demand sends iron ore prices to 20-month low

LONDON — Spot prices for iron ore with a 62-percent iron content fell to a nearly 20-month low May 9 amid weak demand.

AMM sister publication Metal Bulletin’s Iron Ore Index for 62-percent iron-content material moved to $103.03 per tonne c.f.r Qingdao, down 3.5 percent from last week and the lowest level since Sept. 13, 2012, when spot prices stood at $97.89 per tonne c.f.r.....
