Firm coil prices spur latest HSS increase

NEW YORK Hollow structural sections (HSS) producers east of the Rockies are pushing through further price increases in response to rising substrate costs.
American Tube Manufacturing Inc., Birmingham, Ala.; Atlas Tube Inc., a subsidiary of Chicago-based JMC Steel Group Inc.; Independence Tube Corp., Chicago; Maruichi Leavitt Pipe & Tube LLC, Chicago; and ExlTube Co., North Kansas City, Mo. (amm.com, May 8) all raised HSS prices by $40 per ton beginning May 2 and continuing into this....
