W. Coast tubing hikes said taking hold

LOS ANGELES — Optimism is growing on the West Coast that a structural steel tubing hike is taking hold, as market sources now look for signs it can be sustained.

"Yes, we’re paying more—for a while," one buyer said, reflecting the overall view that it’s one thing for prices to go up but still another for an increase to hold over an extended period. Earlier this year, prices fell back after rising about $20 per ton ($1 per hundredweight) in late 2013 (amm.com, March 19).....
