Great Lakes ice plagues iron ore flow in April

NEW YORK — Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes remained well below average in April due to heavy ice formations, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association.

"Shipments totaled only 2.7 million tons, a decrease of 52 percent compared to a year ago" and 53.3 percent below the long-term average for the month, the association said May 9.....
