Horsehead’s plant start ‘imminent’

NEW YORK Construction of Horsehead Holding Corp.s plant in Mooresboro, N.C., is "essentially finished" and zinc production is "imminent," company executives said during an earnings conference call May 12.
"We have completed all of the pre-production checks and operated nearly all of the key unit operations in an actual production mode, including Waelz oxide unloading and washing, leaching, solvent extraction, effluent treatment and the melting and casting facilities," the Pittsburgh-based company said in a statement released with its first-quarter earnings report.
