Kuwait, Peru leading destinations for US shredded

NEW YORK Kuwait and Peru were among the top five trade routes for U.S. shredded steel scrap in the first quarter as exporters pushed to secure sales to nontraditional consumers in a depressed market, U.S. Commerce Department data show.
Shredded scrap exports from New York to Turkey led the way with 106,492 tonnes shipped from January through March. It was followed by Los Angeles to Taiwan, at 83,038 tonnes. San Francisco and Los Angeles to Kuwait finished third and fourth at 53,500 tonnes and 47,126 tonnes, respectively; and Providence, R.I., to Peru rounded out the top five at 47,060 tonnes.....
