Funding problems stalling infrastructure, Mendez says

WASHINGTON Uncertainties about federal funding levels are stalling substantial infrastructure projects across the United States, according to a top Transportation Department official.
"If you talk to state departments of transportation and their directors, a lot of things are being held back or scaled back, and in some cases canceled altogether ... at the exact moment we should be building more" due to crumbling infrastructure and population growth, acting deputy Transportation Secretary Vincent Mendez said at the Steel Manufacturers....
