US must take lead on trade accord: USTR

WASHINGTON The United States needs agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to steer the direction of global trade, U.S. Trade Representative Michael B. Froman told attendees at the Steel Manufacturers Associations annual conference in Washington.
"The rest of the world isnt standing still. Theyre negotiating agreements among themselves and those agreements are often focused on carving up market access at our expense. Those agreements are not focused on issues that we care about," he said. "Thats why as the rules of the road for the next century get designed, we need to make sure the U.S. plays a leadership role in that effort."....
