NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. applauded the U.S. Commerce Department’s affirmative preliminary dumping determination against imports of non-oriented electrical steel (NOES) from six countries, with the company’s top executive saying the decision "will help level the playing field" in the domestic market.

Commerce ruled last week that NOES imports from China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan were being sold at less than fair value and issued preliminary dumping margins ranging from 6.91 percent for South Korea’s Posco Ltd. and its subsidiary, Daewoo International Corp., to 407.52 percent for all NOES imports from China (amm.com, May 16).....
