Carpenter seeing stronger demand

NEW YORK Carpenter Technology Corp. is seeing demand trends that are "fundamentally different" from patterns witnessed last year, when the companys key aerospace end market experienced a period of destocking that negatively impacted orders, president and chief executive officer William A. Wulfsohn told AMM.
"We have said for the last year that we saw some softness in demand which we believe was tied to levels of destocking, (as well as) relatively low material and scrap prices," Wulfsohn said May 28 at Carpenters headquarters in Reading, Pa., where the company was preparing to celebrate its 125th anniversary.
Wulfsohn said that, "from an activity-level standpoint," the company has emerged from that cycle of destocking and low prices and is "plenty busy.....
