RTI’s manufacturing role on Boeing 787 grows

LOS ANGELES — RTI International Metals Inc. has once again increased its downstream role on Boeing Co.’s 787 Dreamliner.

RTI will perform additional titanium parts manufacturing, machining and assembly to ready the 787’s center fuselage seat tracks for final installation, as well as manufacture additional parts needed for the subassembly, it said.

Neither the value of RTI’s expanded role nor the amount of titanium involved were disclosed.

Pittsburgh-based RTI already makes the titanium seat tracks for the Dreamliner’s front, center and rear fuselage sections. RTI did not indicate who previously performed the role.....
