West Coast bulk, container scrap prices climb

NEW YORK West Coast bulk scrap exports have reportedly logged their largest sales week of 2014 with at least six cargo sales reported in the span of three days amid rising prices.
After just one bulk cargo sale from the West Coast to Asia reported through the last week of May, the final days of last month saw a spurt of activity, with Thailand emerging as the most significant buyer.
Market participants said mill buyers in Thailand secured three cargoes from three different exporters in a price range of $392 to $396 per tonne c.i.f. Thailand for shredded scrap. The price range reflects an increase of $4 to $8 per tonne from the last U.S. bulk sale to Thailand on May 6 at $388 per tonne.....
