Great Lakes iron ore shipments back to normal

CHICAGO — Great Lakes iron ore shipments returned to normal levels in May, although the supply chain continued to feel the impact of a cold winter as ice-damaged vessels out for repairs reduced shipping capacity.

U.S. ports and Canadian terminals along the St. Lawrence Seaway shipped nearly 6.4 million tons of iron ore in May 2014, off 0.2 percent from May of last year, according to data from the Lake Carriers’ Association.....
