Gerdau halts Tenn. rebar plant for one day

NEW YORK — Gerdau Long Steel North America’s Knoxville, Tenn., steel mill shut down for the day June 10 after the company learned an employee died from injuries sustained in a May explosion, a spokeswoman told AMM via e-mail.

The mill will be down until 7 a.m. June 11 "to allow our employees to process the news and grieve," the spokeswoman said.....
