LME rules won’t hurt aluminum premiums

NEW YORK — The market will support high premiums on aluminum regardless of the London Metal Exchange’s new warehousing rules, according to an executive at BNP Paribas.

Premiums on aluminum—as well as other base metals such as copper and zinc—will be primarily dependent on the underlying supply and demand of the metals, Justin Holland, managing director in base and precious metals trading at the Paris-based bank, told AMM on the sidelines of a commodities briefing. ....
