NEW YORK — A copper flow products manufacturer is being sued for allegedly releasing harmful chemicals and toxins into the environment at its recycling and smelting facility in southern Illinois.

Cerro Flow Products LLC faces claims by 99 people that waste produced at its copper recycling facility in Sauget, Ill., "has created and continues to create health risks for residents" nearby, including claims that plaintiffs "developed cancer and/or other serious and life-threatening diseases as a consequence of their exposure to the released....
