NEW YORK — Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) expects improved demand to fuel a jump in second-quarter earnings despite an increase in imports.

The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based steelmaker expects earnings of 28 to 32 cents per diluted share for the quarter, up from 17 cents in the prior quarter and 13 cents in the second quarter of 2013, according to earnings guidance released....
