Ferrous scrap export tags to Taiwan climb

NEW YORK — A short-term ferrous scrap shortage borne by an recent uptick in orders for reinforcing bar resulted in higher scrap export prices into Taiwan this week, market participants said.

However, several buyers and exporters speculated that prices could be at their peak after Taiwanese mills failed to secure additional rebar orders this week.

Market participants reported containerized ferrous scrap export sales of an 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melt to Taiwan in a range of $357 to $362 per tonne c.f.r., up from $354 to $358 per tonne previously.....
