Southland ups freight as trucking costs soar

NEW YORK — Southland Tube Inc. is increasing freight prices by 10 percent effective July 14 due to rising transportation costs, the company said in a letter to customers.

"Effective July 14, Southland Tube will implement an increase of 10 percent of the current actual freight cost to each destination," the Birmingham, Ala.-based structural tubing producer said, adding that the increase is being driven particularly by higher trucking....
