Cliffs plans to idle met coal mine

NEW YORK Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. plans to temporarily idle its Pinnacle metallurgical coal mine in West Virginia, a pause that could last more than six months, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Cleveland-based Cliffs "intends to temporarily idle its operations at the Pinnacle Mine as a result of current poor market conditions for metallurgical coal," according to a June 25 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice. If market conditions dont improve, the mine could be idled for more than six months starting around Aug. 25.....
