Titanium surcharge jumps

NEW YORK A 16.6-percent jump in a key titanium surcharge is reinforcing hopes of a significant spot price improvement in the second half of the year.
ATI Allvac, the Monroe, N.C., division of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI), has increased its third-quarter raw material surcharge on standard aerospace titanium 6-aluminum/4-vanadium bar and flat products to $4.98 per pound from $4.27 in the second quarter, while the surcharge on 6/4 billet is up 16.7 percent to $4.54 per pound from $3.89. Allvac increased its surcharge for titanium Eli (extra-low interstitial) products by the same....
