Aerospace, auto demand boost Alcoa results

NEW YORK — Rising aluminum demand from the aerospace and automotive sectors and improved pricing put Alcoa Inc. firmly in the black in the second quarter.

The Pittsburgh-based aluminum producer posted net income of $138 million in the three months ended June 30 vs. a $119-million net loss in the same period last year on revenue of $5.84 billion, up 7 percent from the first quarter but down 0.2 percent from a year earlier.....
