Steel beam imports drop in June

NEW YORK The absence of some sporadic foreign players in the U.S. steel beam market in June helped send import applications down 19.8 percent from the previous month despite higher tonnages from two perennial sources.
Import permit applications for standard and wide-flange beams fell to 51,672 tonnes last month from 64,423 tonnes in May, when arrivals were above 40,000 tons for the first time in at least 18 months (amm.com, June 4), according to data from the U.S. Commerce Departments Enforcement and Compliance division.....
