US steel exports sink in May

NEW YORK — U.S. steel exports fell in May after two consecutive monthly gains, driven by a sharp decline in shipments of bloom, billet and slab.

Exports totaled 939,489 tonnes, down 4.1 percent from 979,509 tonnes in April and 10.9 percent below more than 1.05 million tonnes in May last year, according to data compiled by the Commerce Department’s Enforcement and Compliance division.....
