NEW YORK — High-carbon ferrochrome consumption in the United States trended down in April compared with March, but year-to-date ferrochrome consumption was up from last year’s level, according to U.S. Geological Survey statistics.

High-carbon ferrochrome consumption totaled 31,500 tonnes in April, down 2.2 percent from 32,200 tonnes the previous month but up 0.3 percent from 31,400 tonnes a year earlier. Year-to-date consumption totaled 126,000 tonnes, up 2.3 percent from 123,200 tonnes in the first....
