Aluminum gets boost from aerospace, autos

NEW YORK — North American service center aluminum shipments in June moved higher as strong demand from the automotive and aerospace industries continued to bolster orders.

U.S. service centers’ aluminum shipments totaled 138,400 tons in June, up 1.5 percent from 136,300 tons in May and 13.5 percent higher than 121,900 tons a year earlier, according to the latest Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) data. Canadian shipments of 13,900 tons in June were down 1.4 percent from 14,100 tons in May but up 7.8 percent from 12,900 tons in June 2013.....
