Benxi declines to help US in wire rod case

NEW YORK Chinese steelmaker Benxi Beiying Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd. and its corporate affiliates have declined to provide additional information to the U.S. Commerce Department in a subsidy and dumping investigation of carbon steel wire rod imports.
Commerces International Trade Administrations (ITA) imposed a preliminary countervailing duty of 10.3-percent on Benxis wire rod exports early this month, while rival steelmaker Hebei Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. received an 81.36-percent preliminary rate, partly because Hebei did not cooperate with the investigation (amm.com, July 1).....
