West Coast bulk ferrous scrap prices slip

NEW YORK — West Coast tags for bulk exports of ferrous scrap lost some ground this past week following price decreases for domestic material in markets like Japan and Taiwan.

A lone bulk cargo reportedly was booked by a South Korean producer from a West Coast exporter at $378 to $379 per tonne c.i.f. Korea for No. 1 heavy melt steel scrap. That was down $6 to $7 per tonne delivered from the last U.S. sale to Korea at the start of the month, although pre-shipping values didn’t fall as much due to a weaker freight market, according to market participants.....
