Aircraft, engine backlogs lift aerospace metals

LOS ANGELES Backlogs for airliners and engines are providing a "momentum lift" to aerospace metals, according to some industry analysts.
With backlogs at Chicago-based Boeing Co. and Toulouse, France-based Airbus SAS at more than 10,000 aircraft and engine backlogs at more than 20,000with higher indicated future engine requirements for nickel-based superalloys and titanium"demand for aerospace-grade materials continues to have strong tailwinds," Peter Arment, Josh W. Sullivan, Asher Carey and Carter B. Worth, analysts at Birmingham, Ala.-based investment company Sterne Agee Group Inc., said....
