AL Solutions blast caused by combustible dust: CSB

PITTSBURGH An explosion that killed three workers at titanium and zirconium recycler AL Solutions Inc. in 2010 was caused by combustible dust, according to a U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) report.
It is likely that mechanical problems with a metal blender caused heat and sparks, which ultimately ignited the zirconium inside the machine, according to the CSB, and the initial explosion ignited combustible dust in the facility,....
