SDI ramping up SBQ mill; orders strong

CHICAGO Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) continues to ramp up output of the sizing mill at its small-diameter special bar quality (SBQ) rolling mill in Pittsboro, Ind., amid a strong flow of orders, a company executive said.
The mill has produced about 3,000 tons in roughly the last month or two, a figure SDI hopes to move up "a couple thousand tons" each month going forward, Richard P. Teets Jr., executive vice president of steelmaking and president and chief operating officer of steel operations, said during a July 22 earnings call.....
