Vale nickel output falls amid planned outage at Sudbury

NEW YORK Vale SA reported lower nickel production in the second quarter due to decreased output at its Sudbury operations in Ontario, according to the miners quarterly production report.
Rio de Janeiro-based Vale produced 61,700 tonnes of nickel in the second quarter, down 8.6 percent from the first three months of the year and a 5.4-percent drop from a year earlier, "mainly reflecting the impact of planned maintenance work" at the companys Sudbury facilities, it said July 24.....
