ATI sees premium rating for Rowley by '15

LOS ANGELES — Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI) expects to wind up its pursuit of a premium-quality rating for titanium sponge products for use in aircraft engines by next year as it continues to pay the price for running its Utah sponge plant at a higher level than might otherwise be economically justified.

ATI’s sponge plant in Rowley, Utah, is "on track" to complete the qualification process "in 2015, or sooner if possible," chairman, president and chief executive officer Richard J. Harshman said recently during the company’s earnings call.....
