AK Steel losses narrow in qtr. as sales rise

CHICAGO AK Steel Corp. narrowed its net loss by 57.7 percent in the second quarter as increased sales outweighed the lingering impact of harsh winter weather, with the company upbeat of a better second half.
Contributing to the optimism on the second half of the year, the West Chester, Ohio-based steelmakers blast furnace in Ashland, Ky., is up and running after suffering an $18-million unplanned outage in the first quarter, it said in its quarterly earnings results July 29.....
