USS mulls DRI, DR pellet production

CHICAGO U.S. Steel Corp. is considering building a direct-reduced iron (DRI) plant or selling direct-reduced (DR) grade pellets from its Minntac iron ore operations in Minnesota, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The Pittsburgh-based steelmaker is examining the costs and engineering requirements of making DR grade pellets at its Minntac operations "for use internally by the company if we were to construct a DRI facility or for sale to external third parties with DRI facilities," it said in the filing.....
