Line pipe trade case could be near: NW Pipe

CHICAGO The prospects of a line pipe import trade case have been bolstered by a recent victory for domestic producers of oil country tubular goods (OCTG), Northwest Pipe Co.s top executive said.
"The success that was had on the OCTG trade case certainly allows the drumbeat to become louder on a line pipe case," Northwest Pipe president and chief executive officer Scott Montross said during a quarterly earnings conference call Aug. 5. "It gives a platform for something else to happen on line pipe going forward."
Line pipe is a smaller market than OCTG, but imports make up a greater percentage of the domestic line pipe market than the domestic OCTG market, Montross said, a trend that is not "sustainable going forward."....
