LOS ANGELES — RTI International Metals Inc.’s net income soared in the second quarter due to higher deliveries for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program and strong energy-related business.

The Pittsburgh-based company reported net income of $7 million for the three months ended June 30, more than ten times the $670,000 recorded in the same period last year, on sales that increased 3.1 percent to $205.3 million from $199.1 million.

Deliveries of equivalent shipsets of titanium seat tracks for Chicago-based Boeing Co.’s 787 Dreamliner doubled to 36 in the second quarter from 18 a year earlier.....
