Mooresboro startup drives Horsehead loss

NEW YORK — Zinc producer Horsehead Holding Corp. posted a bigger loss in the second quarter due to one-time costs associated with the opening and ramp-up of its zinc facility in Mooresboro, N.C.

"Our results compared to the prior year’s second quarter reflect the unusual, one-time effect associated with the shutdown of Monaca (Pa.) at the end of April (and) the start-up of our new Mooresboro plant in May," president and chief executive officer Jim Hensler said in a statement accompanying the company’s earnings report.....
