Supply tightness lifts silicon prices further

NEW YORK — Spot prices for silicon metal have risen again, with outages from Brazilian and Australian producers continuing to crimp domestic supply.

AMM’s silicon metal price now stands at $1.44 to $1.47 per pound, up from $1.40 to $1.44 per pound previously.

One consumer said he is now being quoted as high as $1.50 per pound. "It’s getting a lot more damn expensive," he told AMM.....
