ArcelorMittal, Quebec union ink labor deal

NEW YORK — ArcelorMittal SA has reached a new six-year labor deal with unionized workers at its Contrecoeur-Ouest long products plant in Contrecoeur, Quebec, ending a nine-day lockout.

"Management and the union are now working on implementing the back-to-work protocol to resume operations in the complex by (Aug. 18)," ArcelorMittal Montreal said Aug. 15.

Around 84 percent of United Steelworkers union Local 6951’s members accepted the agreement after rejecting a previous contract offer by a margin of 52 percent, the union said.....
