Autos help fuel aluminum shipment gains

NEW YORK North American service center aluminum shipments inched up last month as strong demand from a number of key markets, including automotive, aerospace and building and construction, continued to drive orders higher.
U.S. service centers aluminum shipments totaled 139,600 tons in July, up 0.9 percent from 138,400 tons the previous month and 8.6 percent higher than 128,600 tons a year earlier, according to the latest Metals Service Center Institute data. Canadian shipments of 13,800 tons in July slipped 0.7 percent from 13,900 tons in June but were up 11.3 percent from 12,400 tons in July 2013.....
