US, Canadian stainless shipments rise again

NEW YORK North American stainless steel shipments continued to show strength in July, according to the latest Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) data, although distributor sources told AMM there have been some signs of softening end-market demand.
Stainless steel shipments by U.S. distributors totaled 163,400 tons last month, up 1.8 percent from 160,500 tons in June and 9.9 percent higher than 148,600 tons in July 2013. Year-to-date shipments of 1.13 million tons were up 8.1 percent from 1.05 million tons in the first seven months of last year.....
