Canadian rail car builder hiring workers

LOS ANGELES — National Steel Car Ltd., Canada’s only rail car builder, is boosting employment, spurred by its recent entry into tank cars and rising demand for its traditional lines of freight cars.

The Hamilton, Ontario-based company, which has 1,800 employees, plans to add 300 workers, with an emphasis on welders.

"Our freight car business has increased and at the same time we’re working our way into the tank car business," vice president of human resources Hal Bruckner told AMM. The company, which began tank car production in late 2013, does not disclose or break out its rail car production by types.....
